Rhetoric in social communication (scheduled for publication in mid-2009)

We are currently accepting proposals for the issue devoted to rhetoric present in different aspects of social communication, including traditional and new (Internet) text genres.
We are interested in a wide-range of analytical themes and questions that include, but are certainly not limited, to the following:
1. rhetoric of social campaigns (e.g. campaigns against domestic violence etc.)
2. rhetoric of texts promoting social attitudes and new lifestyles (e.g. from popular and specialist magazines)
3. the use of rhetoric in advertising and in other forms of marketing
4. rhetorical strategies of self-promotion and creating personal image (e.g. profiles on Internet social networks and communicators, blog posts)
5. the use of persuasion techniques in communication on a job market (cv, application for a job, personal website)

Deadline for submissions is May 30, 2009.
All manuscripts must be carefully edited. The instruction for the authors can be found in Editorial Policy section at www.retoryka.edu.pl and no other format will be accepted.

All submitted manuscripts will be reviewed on a blind review basis and carefully selected for publication.

EDITORIAL POLICY

Forum Artis Rhetoricae, the biannual publication of Polish Rhetorical Society, welcomes contributions from scholars who take interest in various aspects of rhetoric.

Note:

The text should be carefully edited (both spelling and format). We are unlikely to accept submissions that substantially deviate from our guidelines.
Submissions accepted for publication may be modified to account for minor editorial changes. In case of more complex modifications, the authors will be asked to review the manuscript.

Manuscripts should adhere to the following guidelines:

Language: Polish or English
Format: Microsoft Word (.doc) or RTF (.rtf)
Length: 3500 – 4000 words (including the title, citations and bibliography)
Font:
- Times New Roman 14
- Times New Roman 12 for quotations longer than three lines and for tables
- Title: Times New Roman 14, bold, leave two lines between the title and the main text
- Subheadings: Times New Roman 14, bold, numbered and adjusted to the left
- use bold only for titles and headings/subheadings
- use italics for foreign-language phrases, emphasis and titles of the works discussed in the text
- for quotations please use printing quotes („”)

The only acceptable forms of formatting are:

- Page format: left and right margins 2.5 cm, bottom 3.5 cm
- Main text: aligned on both sides
- Space: 1.5
- Tabs: 0.6 pt.
- In the bibliography: put the first line: 0.6 pts.

Formatting excluded:

- Inserting page numbers
- Underlining or s e p a r a t i n g words
- Any additional formats not listed above (e.g. fixed spaces between subheadings and main text)

Summary:

Summary in English - max. 400-500 words. Times New Roman 14, space 1,5. No tabs. Insert between the title and the main body. In summary, please emphasize in particular the conclusions of the analysis, identify trends and generalizations drawn from the research (without focusing only on the structure and the line of argument).
Demonstrate how the issues discussed in the article relate to the major theme of the volume. Leave one space before the main text.
